Understanding Skin
(inclusive of VAT - please let us know if you require a VAT receipt)
A clinical, evidence-led approach to skin and skincare
Most skincare training will tell you what to recommend.
This course is designed to help you understand why.
Developed with medical professionals in mind but suitable for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of skin, this is an unbranded, evidence-led course designed to give you a true understanding of skin.
In clinic, patients don’t just ask about treatments.
They ask about their skin.
What to use.
Why their skin behaves the way it does.
What will actually improve it long term.
And this is often where confidence drops slightly, not because you’re not capable, but because skin isn’t always taught in a way that translates to practice.
Why This Matters
As a medical professional, understanding why is essential.
Why that ingredient works
Why that condition behaves the way it does
Why one approach is better than another
Because that’s what allows you to:
• Fully understand what you’re doing and why
• Explain your decisions clearly
• Adapt your recommendations
• Practise with confidence, not scripts
About the Course
Understanding Skin has been created to give you that underpinning knowledge.
This is not a brand-led course.
It’s designed to help you think clinically about skin, so you’re not just following guidance or repeating recommendations, you actually understand what you’re doing and why.
What We’ll Cover
This course is designed to give you a clear, clinically relevant understanding of skin, including:
Foundations of Skin
• Anatomy and physiology of the skin
• How skin functions and maintains balance
Understanding Skin Conditions
• Acne
• Rosacea
• Pigmentation disorders
• What’s happening beneath the surface, not just how they present
Skin Ageing
• Structural and functional changes over time
• Intrinsic and extrinsic ageing
Ingredient Knowledge
• How key ingredients work within the skin
• How to select and recommend based on understanding, not brand
Clinical Application
• How to approach skincare decisions in practice
• Moving beyond brand-led recommendations
• Explaining your reasoning clearly to patients
Who This Is For
This course is designed for medical professionals working in aesthetics who want to feel more confident when advising on skin and skincare.
Particularly if you:
• Feel confident performing treatments but less confident discussing skin
• Want to move beyond brand-led recommendations
• Want to better understand the “why” behind what you’re doing
• Want to deliver a more complete, patient-centred approach
What This Course Is Not
• A brand-led course focused on specific products
• A strict protocol or one-size-fits-all approach
• A step-by-step decision tree for treating skin
Skin is highly individual, and rigid protocols rarely translate well into real clinical practice.
Instead, this course is designed to help you understand how to think about skin, so you can assess, interpret and make decisions based on the patient in front of you.
